Live Edge Oak Bar

The fun thing about using reclaimed wood for projects is you never know what you’re going to find when you go to harvest. We were commissioned to build a bathroom vanity for a family, and they wanted to use some old hickory that they had milled from their farm and had been storing in one of their barn lofts...

Wood-burning has actually been a part of my family for some time now. My grandfather was an artist, and I remember watching him free-hand draw cars, portraits, cowboys/indians (my grandmother owned SouthWest Connection, an arts/crafts store). They bought me my first burning kit...

Introducing Cerberus Wood Co.
Jordan Leach
Jan 26, 2016

Cerberus Wood Company came about through the efforts of family and friends,  and the drive of sharing something that we love with other people. We're very thankful and excited by the amount of support we've received in such a short time and can't wait to see what's to come.

Suzanne (Jordan’s wife) had this rickety, ugly, yellow dining room table for years. She refused to get rid of it because it belonged to her parents when she was growing up. Jordan made a deal that they could keep it, but only if he could make a new top for it and paint the base. This is the result...plus a live edge, walnut bench for good measure...the ugly, yellow table now lives on in their kitchen and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
We are in love with this live edge, cookie cut, walnut coffee table. When our client came to us with the idea we weren’t sure we could find a cookie slab large enough, but perseverance pays off. We discovered @marwood_slabs in Louisville, and they came through for us! This was our first time using @rubiomonocoatusa and we can say it is fantastic!
Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!
Making large, grand furniture is a lot of fun, but these smaller projects are great too. These oak step stools are great for tall beds or getting the little ones tucked in. We used old-school dowel rod joining techniques for this pair. These stools sit at a gorgeous cottage on Lake Barkley that’s available to rent!
Having a conversation piece in your house around the holidays can be a lot of fun. Telling friends and family members about the old barn beam that’s been on your family’s farm for decades, and now serves as your living room mantel is a great way to break that awkward silence with your weird uncle and crazy aunt.
Mondays really aren’t that bad...however, drawers are terrible! There are still some woodworking tasks that make us 🤬, but we’ll figure them out one day.
This morning our pastor talked about how obtaining more in life does not lead to joy and happiness. Instead of striving for more, we should use the gifts and materials we have been blessed with to help others. Using reclaimed wood resonates this practice. Using what you have already been given to bless other people’s lives leads to fulfillment and a life used the right way. It may seem far fetched, but using an old barn or a tree blown down by a storm, is one way we can use the materials we have been given. We will take that over chopping down a healthy tree every time!
As the weather gets colder, getting out of bed seems to be more difficult. Especially when your bed is made of beautiful walnut
With a heavy heart, we wanted to let our woodworking family know that one of our shop dogs, Ramsey, passed away last month. I’m sure y’all can tell from our posts how much our dogs mean to us. Ramsey has been coming to the shop with Jordan ever since we were working out of our Uncle’s woodshop in Livermore. He spent many late and cold nights keeping us company while we worked. We will miss him more than we can describe and the shop will be a little lonely for awhile. There is just something about having a dog by your side that makes working much more enjoyable. He was always up for a play break, or doing something silly that would make long nights go by faster. We are glad that his image lives on in our logo (the middle dog), and he will always be a member of our family.
We love it when our clients have creativite ideas. Using two matching butcher blocks to spruce up this area of the kitchen works perfectly!

We love when clients decide to use wood as a centerpiece for a space. This reclaimed barn beam mantle added tons of style and character to an already beautiful living room. More to come from this project soon!

Is winter over yet? We get a lot of request for pieces to put in outdoor spaces. This bar-height table is great for eating dinner, sharing a beer with friends, or watching the game. What’s missing from your favorite space?
Rainy days got us like...
Sunday means everyone is showing off a week’s worth of meal prep. Not pictured: all the cutting, chopping, and kitchen disasters. This end grain cutting board means your knives won’t dull and your kitchen always looks good, which is just as important as having lunch ready for tomorrow.

The last few days in Kentucky have been absolutely frigid. Cold weather seems to make it difficult to get out of bed in the morning, especially when you take time staring at your new barn door headboard.
Gifts constructed by hand are the best around the holidays. This custom sign is 2 feet long and was made here in Kentucky, before it was shipped to the west coast for painting by @Woodensense. This weekend only, we’re listing this piece at $150. (Normally $250.) Message us for details or if you are interested in purchasing. This is the only piece of it’s kind, but we do have a larger 4 foot version available on our website. Shipping or at-once pickup available.

Something new! We took a swing at a concrete top, and love the way it came out. Could definitely see this falling into our normal line of products. Tell us what you think, 👍🏽 or 👎🏽?
